So who needs the Middleman? Murdoch News Corp --> $2 billion dollar commitment

Murdoch stated at a recent press conference; "There is no greater priority for the company today than to meaningfully and profitably expand its Internet presence and to properly position ourselves from the explosion in broadband usage that we're now starting to see,"
News Corp recently announced it would acquire Intermix and the youth portal MySpace, having also acquired Scout a college sports site.
"Our strategy is quite simple," Murdoch said. "News Corp. at its core is about content. The Web at its core is about personal choice. What we are aiming to do is combine the two, and in the process redefine the meaning of [an] Internet vertical."
He has created Fox Interactive Media "FIM" , soon News Corp will have 50 million unique visitors a month and $23 billion a year in revenue pushing it along ...
Murdoch said News Corp. was in "advanced talks" to acquire a search company. He said investors wouldn't consider the price significant. Miva, Lycos & Looksmart come to mind.
