LAWSUIT – only in America ….Trademark Infringement
Claims Now Extend to Meta Tags
According to Out-Law,
using trademarked terms in your meta tags, could get you in
trouble. A biopharmaceutical firm that distributes plasma
derivatives has sued a rival, alleging that Health Coalition
Inc. used the trade marked name “BDI Blood Diagnostics”
as a meta tag in its web site source code, according to a
report by Law.com. This, alleges Blood Diagnostics Inc., is
a breach of its trade mark rights.
Off Topic but - Looks like
the Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD format war is really heating up.
Barely a week after Warner, Universal and Paramount announced
their support for the HD-DVD format, Walt Disney and its Buena
Vista Home Entertainment division joined Sony's Columbia Pictures
and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, throwing their support behind Blu-ray.
The move, announced late yesterday, means that the major Hollywood
studios are evenly divided between the two formats. Only News
Corp.'s Twentieth Century Fox has yet to pick a side, and
it will no doubt do so soon. And that's when the battle will
begin in earnest. Together, the HD-DVD supporters control
about 45 percent of DVD market in the States. The Blu-ray
backers control 36 percent. When Twentieth Century Fox commits,
it will bring an additional 11 percent of the market to the

Sharman (owners of Kazaa)
has revealed only that it is controlled by two Vanuatu-based
holding companies. SO who really owns Sharman ????
"The record companies are trying to prove Sharman can
control users' behaviour on the network through a central
server, the existence of which is denied by Sharman."
So on goes this very interesting court case, just goes to
show we are taming the wild wild west, but I hope not to much
