Aside from the search engines themselves there are a endless number of directories online of varying value. From the top down you have DMOZ.org the open directory, from which Google draws data followed next by Yahoo Directory. Getting a listing on both of these is well worthwhile. After that it is worth looking at registering your site in a range of directories that are on topic for your content. Beware this is a minefield and many are setup just to get links and Adsense dollars.
